Post the recent monsoon fury, Goa witnessed a lot of damage to agriculture.

Farmers actively engaged in plowing their fields at Kundai fear losses of at least Rs 25 lakhs due to breaches in a bund in khazan lands here.

Due to unexpected heavy rain last week, the bund was breached in various places as a result of which some 300 acres of land went underwater and the paddy crop was flattened. As a result, farmers are now requesting compensation from the government.

While speaking to The Goan, Kundai Sarpanch Ramu Naik admitted that farmers are facing huge losses due to post-monsoon rain and cyclone fury.

“I request the agriculture department to assess the losses and compensate the farmers accordingly besides making arrangements to repair the breaches in the bund,” said Naik.
